About

Pausing to remember ::

As my 90th birthday approached many memories of the marvelous adventures that have made up my life have been re-surging.

As I can no longer count my future in terms of decades, or maybe even years, I have wondered more and more of late what to leave as a legacy for family, friends and colleagues. Through the help of friends I have created this website in an effort to summarize the wonders and disappointments, successes and failures, adventures and misadventures of my eventful life, and to make them accessible to all who are interested.

My personal life has included being a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. My professional life is also multifaceted. I am scientist (ornithology), author, conservationist, watercolor and sketch artist, political activist (when the need occurred), and world traveler. This website highlights both of these lives as they look from a very long perspective.

My goal for the first phase of this website has been to record highlights from my professional life. This journey into the myriad of projects I have been privileged to work on has reconnected me with many dear friends and fellow researchers.  It has been a gift to reflect on the people I have been associated with and what our efforts have accomplished. While I have attempted to keep “just to the highlights,” the more people I reconnect with, the more I find fascinating to record.  I hope you enjoy this tip of the iceberg.
